Water Main Replacement on Ridge Road to last a year

[ 0 ] May 4, 2018 |

The Arlington County Board has approved a $1.9 million contract to replace the nearly century-old water main beneath Arlington Ridge Road. The nearly one mile long segment to be replaced runs from Oakcrest Road in the south all the way north to Nash St. at Prospect Hill Park.  The project is expected to get underway very shortly and may require up to a full year to complete.  Work will only occur between rush hours when short sections of one lane of the roadway will be blocked off, with “flaggers” alternating the two-way traffic onto the other side of the roadway. Homes temporarily impacted by water outages will be notified in advance via door knob “hangers.”  The new 12-inch main should reduce maintenance, extend life, and support neighborhood demand.

County staff was on hand at the May membership meeting to provide additional information and answer what are sure to be many questions about the project which will inevitably impact our entire neighborhood for the coming year. For more information, Call 703-228-6495 or
