Register Your Opinion on Missing Middle

[ 0 ] October 9, 2022 |
Register your opinion on the County’s proposal to rezone single-family neighborhoods to multi-family, up to 8 units per lot.
ARCA Members and Residents:
In order to encourage greater housing inventory at lower costs for a growing population, the Arlington County Board proposes to make policy/regulation changes, pursuant to the Missing Middle Study, to permit development of multi-family dwellings in neighborhoods currently zoned for single-family, detached homes. Multi-family dwellings could range from duplexes and townhomes and hold up to 8 units, based on the size of the lot. The proposal would affect single-family zoned neighborhoods throughout the county, including the parts of Arlington Ridge where the zoning currently does not permit multi-family dwellings.
The County Board will advertise its plan in mid-November and formally vote whether to adopt these new zoning regulations at the December 12th County Board meeting.
ARCA urges every resident in our neighborhood to share their support or opposition with the County Board ( by October 30. Please indicate in your correspondence that you live in Arlington Ridge and CC ARCA neighbor (  This is one of your last opportunities to weigh in with your thoughts, pros and cons, on a proposal that could fundamentally change Arlington County as we know it.
Additionally, we would like to better understand membership’s feelings to inform our engagements with the County, and therefore we kindly request you take a moment to fill out our ARCA survey here ( and share your thoughts on the Missing Middle Study and proposed zoning changes.
