ARCA Bimonthly Meetings

Meetings are held at the Aurora Highlands Community Center (735 18th Street S, Arlington) and are held virtually (link below).

Arlington Trails presentated their proposal to convert a local park into a bike training course.

Arlington's division of Parks and Recreation provide updates to the ARCA community.

Rich Fernicola, Senior VP Development at Brookfield Development talked about their development plans for the 12th Street Landing.

Ms. Agnes Sullivan (Arlington National Cemetery) and Sean O’Brien (Federal Highway Admin.) updated us on the Southern Expansion of the cemetery; Dr. Stephen Carney told us the history of the Ord and Weitzel and McClellan Gates. Matt Mattauszek, the Planning Coordinator for Crysal City and Pentagon City, will also updated us on planning, and report on the  Riverhouse Neighborhood Site Plan kick-off.

Representatives from the Arlington County Police Department joined to discuss keeping our community safe.  Neighbor Miriam Gennari updated us on her program Sustainable Scoop.  We also had our own elections for our Executive Board.

Naudy Martinez and Laura Simpson talked about the Arlington Neighbors Program; its name, recent changes, and how you can get involved in proposing projects in the neighborhood.  
Annette Benbow, Arlington Historical Society, talked about “The Arlington Historical Society: Celebrating Arlington’s History.”
G. Evan Pritchard, Cozen O’Connor, were joined by Greg Reed and Abbey Oklak from Kimco: they discussed future development plans for the Pentagon Center shopping center where Costco is located.

We were given three briefings given at our January Membership meeting.

One by Gabriela Kock, Project Management Coordinator, Div. of Transportation, Division of Environmental Services on intersection improvement at Arlington Ridge Road and S. Lynn Streets. Second, Assistant Director of Transportation, Sarah Crawford, presented on the County’s approach to transportation planning. This presentation focused on the big picture for transportation in the ARCA vicinity.

Third, the County’s letter regarding the VDOT Route 1 improvement plans.
